444SL® Specialized Fly Lines

444SL® LONG DISTANCE FLY LINES

444SL fly lines are available in a version to suit most every fly fishing situation. These special, stiffer lines have been designed for maximum distance.
Retail WF and DT lines $46, Sink Tips 5', 10' and 20', type 3 & 6 $48, Shooting taper floating and intermediate $32.

444SL® CORTLAND WIND TAPER
The extra long tip of this fly line allows a delicate presentation while the multiple tapers in the body of the line nullify that nemesis of flyfishers everywhere - wind.  This is the line to take along on your trip west as insurance!  Available in weights 4-12 in mint green, floating. Retail $50.

444SL® PIKE/MUSKY LINE
Cortland, leading the field in fly line design and technology, brings you the first fly line designed for the Pike and Musky. These weight forward designs feature radically short tapers that easily turn over those large, air-resistant Pike/Musky flies. The bright red color makes it easy to “track” the line on the water. Floating, weight 7 through 10. Retail $50.

444SL® BASS TAPER

A weight forward line with a short front taper to "turn over" heavier, wind resistant cork, hair body and weighted bass bugs. Available in WF6 - 9F. Retail $50.

444SL® CLEAR SERIES

The ultimate in stealthy presentation—your days of spooking fish by “lining” them are over! These lines are truly crystal clear, not opaque. The ClearLine is an intermediate, while the Ghost Tip is an intermediate tip attached to a floating body.
The 15’ Ghost Tip section gives the angler 24’ (with a 9’ leader) between the green SL fly line body and his fly. Ideal for use with nymphs, streamers and in Stillwater. The Ghost Tip could be the most perfect fly line ever developed for the line-shy trout, steelhead and salmon.

Retail Ghost Tip (WF4-10F/I) $52, Clear Intermediate (WF4-12I) $55.

444SL® SPEY LINES

Cortland's Spey lines have been developed through input from anglers from all over the world. The WF lines (WF8/9F - WF11/12F) feature long heads, which help in line control and thin running lines for long distance casting. The DT lines (DT8/9F - DT11/12F) give you the ultimate in line control.  $59.

444SL® SALTWATER BIG GAME TAPERS

Developed for the big fish and big fly situations encountered by saltwater anglers. These lines are best suited for cold water conditions. See out Tropic Plus lines for use in hotter climates. Available in WF7-13F and WF7-11I.  $48.

444SL® QUICK DESCENT (QD) LINE

Sometimes a fly fisher needs a little help in “getting down.” Now you have it with the 444SL Quick Descent (QD) line. The “QD” weight forward design incorporates a 24 foot sinking head with a 6 foot floating section and rear taper directly behind the head for maximum durability and casting superiority. The combination of the design with a small diameter running line makes shooting a long cast a breeze while the floating section of the body helps with line control when mending. This line has many applications, from fishing for salmon and steelhead to bass and summer pike.  If you really want to “get down”, do it with the 444SL Quick Descent Line. Available in 175, 225, 325, 425, 525 and 625 grain.  $50.

444SL® SALTWATER Q.D. FLY LINES

444SL Saltwater Quick Descent lines are specifically designed for saltwater conditions with depth in mind. The fast 24 ft. sinking section is followed by a specially designed tapered Intermediate running line which allows the head to get down even faster and deeper. The rear taper design eliminates unwanted hinging. Available in: 175, 225, 325, 425, 525, and 625 grains.  $50.

444SL® STEADY SINK

444SL Steady Sink fly lines are density compensated to create a fly line that will sink evenly. The heavier front section helps eliminate unwanted line sag by sinking slightly faster than the back section. Excellent for stillwater fly fishing.  $49, Shooting Tapers $32.

444SL® CHANGE-A-TIP FLY LINE

The Cortland Change-A-Tip system is tailor-made for the resourceful angler who needs to adapt instantly to changing conditions. This 4 in 1 versatile system allows for maximum flexibility, giving the fly fisher an edge whether chasing shy browns on top of still water lakes or digging big steelhead up from the bottom of a raging river.
Each compact loop, built into the 12 foot weight forward taper interchangeable tip, is constructed with the core of the fly line. These super strong loops are designed to be extra stiff for reduced hinging effect, of minimum size to pass through guides easily and changed quickly, no matter what the conditions.
